There are only a small handful of words beginning with ਔ, the most common being ਔਰਤ "au-rat" (meaning "woman"). Note that in ਔਰਤ a vowel is inserted between the final two consonants - this is what we would expect following the general pronunciation rules that every consonant is followed by an unwritten "schwa" inherent vowel. However, clusters involving /r/ and a stop consonant typically break this tendency when preceded by a stronger stressed vowel like ਆ, the schwa gets deleted, and words like ਮਾਰਗ (meaning "path") become "marg." ਔਰਕਸ forms a pattern which does not really occur in existing Punjabi words and can seem like more of a mouthful to say - and more likely to be said as "au-rak-as," similar to the closest word ਔਰਤ. ਆਰਕਸ would be easier to say as "ar-kas" is this fits within existing pronunciation tendencies. In most words that have this vowel + consonant cluster combination that have been loaned from English to Punjabi, this adaptation can be seen: :::* ਆਰਕੈਸਟਰਾ "orchestra" :::* ਕਾਰਕ "cork" :::* ਰਿਕਾਰਡ "record" :::* ਅਰਦਰ "order" :::* ਅਰਦਲੀ "orderly" (this one is interesting because the second /r/ got deleted as well - it would be harder to say with that) :::By comparison, words like "store" are just ਸਟੋਰ, since /r/ does not form a cluster with a stop consonant. :::I think ਗੋਂਗੋਂ is better actually. ਗੋਂਗੋਂਗ would be pronounced as "gong-gong-gah." The sound that the word ends in occurs automatically in nasalised vowels in the same way the word "sink" is said by most English speakers with a nasal sound other than /n/ without the need for another letter for it. ਙ can occur at the end of Punjabi words, such as ਲੰਙ or ਵਾਂਙ, but these are considered archaic spellings. It has largely disappeared from contemporary Punjabi as an independent consonant both in writing and pronunciation. The dialects of Punjabi in which ਙ as an independent consonant is still prominent are largely spoken in parts of Pakistani Punjab where most people have never read Gurmukhi. ਵਾਂਙ is just written as ਵਾਂਗ by contemporary writers.
