[Uzgartish] Administrator

Hi Barat!

I have nominated you for administrator here.

Once you have become administrator, you can translate the Interface messages from English into the Uyghur arabic alphabet.

Thanks a lot man, this is really encouraging! I will try my best. Barat

[Uzgartish] Possible copyright violation

Hello there. I noticed you were creating many pages, and some appear to be copied from other pages. Some examples are:

If possible, could you explain why you have doing so? Until this is clarified, could you please stop creating articles? Thanks in advance. -- ReyBrujo 21:54, 1 4-Ay 2007 (UTC)

According to Wikipedia’s CopyrightPolicy contributors are allowed to use the material copied from other websites only if the authors of those websites have expressly given their permission to you. If in doubt, then write the articles yourself using your own words. --Jose77 04:32, 2 4-Ay 2007 (UTC)

[Uzgartish] Hoy

Hoy Barat, at this point I think you are sockpuppet of User:Jose77. Many suspicious events surround this all. I hope you will oblige and prove for me that really you can speak Uyghur by translating following short sentence:

"I am Uyghur called Barat and I am using Wikipedia".

Because I known Jose77 cannot do such correct. --توشقان 02:44, 2 4-Ay 2007 (UTC)

[Uzgartish] explanation

please do not misunderstand, I know very well about CopyrightPolicy of wikipedia, as well as in the other cases, thanks for reminding though. I did so cuz among arabic script uyghur forums ,its allowed to copy the forum content with mentioning the source site and the author. Thats the reason why i left source site and the author name at the end of each article here.If some of those websites mention that even the forum content can not to be copied without permission ,then I will surely ask their permission before i copy here. for my own work i will leave my own name.

By the way, I am an Uyghur. My elementary and high school education is in Uyghur, BSc degree is in Chinese, now I am studying for master in English.Plus i know very well Kazakh, and know basic German. The sentence above means " men bir uyghur, ismim barat, men wikipedianing ishletküchisi" digen menide. .

Here is the proof, the following line is a messenger talk between suzuk and me,suzuk is one of the administrator of Izdinix forum. [13:13] Barat: sizdin soraydighan bir sual batti [13:13] suzuk: ok [13:13] Barat: adette izdinishtiki maqalilerni bashqa betlerge köchürüp chaplashqa bolamdu? [13:14] suzuk: menbesini aptorini eskertip kocursingiz bolidu

english translation of last two line is:

barat: is it ok if I copy articles from izdinix to other sites? suzuk: you can copy them with mentioning the source and the author.

  • Unfortunately, permission to "copy" is not enough for Wikipedia. You need permission to use it on terms of the GFDL, e.g permission to redistibute AND MODIFY it. MaxSem 14:08, 2 4-Ay 2007 (UTC)
As MaxSem stated, we need the administrators of those forums to accept release the content under a free license (GFDL, or public domain). That means, anyone is able to modify the content, and while we can leave a note stating the information came from a determined site (as a reference), anything inside the article could be modified, even published without problems. If he agrees with that statement, you should ask him to mail a permission to the Wikimedia Foundation. However, noting that there are many different posters, you may have to ask every poster for permission to copy (as well as the website owner). -- ReyBrujo 23:09, 2 4-Ay 2007 (UTC)
yes , the copied files have not under GFDL yet, thats the reason why i left the source and author name at the end of each article, i thought its ok since there is a related disclaimer on the wikipedia( cuz i could not wait their permission for GFDL), i was only confirmed with copyright permission from administrator. Meanwhile, i have been contacting with the authors and try to get their permission . If i get it, i will remove all the source and author names there attached

Barat 23:46, 2 4-Ay 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, maybe you did not understand: there is nothing wrong with the names and URLs attached in the articles, as we are not against "acknowledging sources". What we need is that they accept the GFDL or public domain license. If they don't, we will have to delete all the articles, even if they have the name of the author and the source in them, because that content would be considered copyrighted and not suitable for Wikipedia. If they do agree with the change of the license, then the information can stay (including with the reference). In the meantime, if possible, could you add a link to the page from where you copied the content for every article? That way we would know exactly from which page you took what, and make it easier both keep the articles (if they are released under a free license) or delete them (after verifying they have been copied). I think we can wait some more days, maybe a week or two at much, but if by that time the permission is not granted (and remember that we need a real permission answer, saying something like "I release the content published in that determined page under the GFDL/public domain" (or another similar like the one appearing here, but modified to fit articles), we will have to delete the articles. You are welcomed to rewrite them in your own words and with less content to keep them, as long as you don't blatantly copy sections of them.-- ReyBrujo 01:09, 3 4-Ay 2007 (UTC)
oh,so sorry, i really did misunderstood! ok, i will wait for their permission for GFDL/public domain for a week or so, if i won´t get it, i will rewrite them. Thank you very much for your advice, I appreciated! Barat 06:48, 3 4-Ay 2007 (UTC)
i got a question: i got some permission ,as you stated above, they should send an email to wiki. foundation ,so could you give me such an email address. One more question, since some of the authors do not know english ,so is it ok that they write the email in Uyghur, or it has to be translated? in the latter case, i can translate for them. thanks a lot in advance!Barat 22:14, 3 4-Ay 2007 (UTC)
I have left a messsage on user:ReyBrujo's talk page so hopefully he can find a solution soon. --Jose77 23:31, 3 4-Ay 2007 (UTC)
I left the Commons page with the information at my post above. Check here to check the text you need to send, and the address (permissions-commons AT wikimedia.org). And to make things easier, make the forum keepers send a mail to you, with all the information, and forward it to that address. -- ReyBrujo 01:59, 4 4-Ay 2007 (UTC)
