[edit] Qualification and Relegation
The Premiership is the top tier of English football, it has twenty teams. Three teams are relegated to the Championship each season and four qualify for the UEFA Champions League. Up to four teams, depending on cup runs can qualify for the UEFA Cup from league positions and one team qualifies for the Intertoto Cup.

Chelsea and Manchester United qualified automatically for the first round of the UEFA Champions League. Liverpool and Arsenal qualified for the final qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League. Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Blackburn Rovers qualified for the UEFA Cup, while Newcastle United qualified for the Intertoto Cup. West Bromwich Albion, Birmingham City and Sunderland were relegated and were replaced by Reading, Sheffield United and Watford.

Dome people found it contraversial that Chelsea snapped up Andriy Shevchenko and Michael Ballack, both who were star players for major clubs in Europe. Also, Chelsea now have even less English players.
