[editja] Redirects
- below moved from User_talk:Michaelb1983 - we have redirects from Gwann to Ġwann.. maybe instead we can change the search text to explain that you must search with maltese spelling?
M, dwar il-kavalieri, naħseb aħjar "Ta'" minflok "Ta`".. Grazzi għal li tagħmel Srl | lblb 08:35, 11 Apr 2005 (UTC)
M, can you comment on the 'san gwann' minflok 'san ġwann' redirect? Seems like it is just an error, would you like the 'gwann' page deleted? thanks. Srl | lblb 19:13, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I've put up that page so if one types San Gwann in the search box the search will result in Kavallieri Ta' San ġwann. The kavallieri ta' San Gwann Redirect is done with this purpose.Michaelb1983 20:20, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- I'm not sure that is a good idea.. we could potentially have one for each spelling.. maybe you can bring it up in the Wikipedia:Pjazza .. Srl | lblb 23:40, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Maybe we should put. Articles about localities like for example Żurrieq for example should have a redirect from a page ZurrieqMichaelb1983 08:26, 16 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I understand your point but I beg to differ. If we do like you're suggesting we will end up redirecting every possible spelling mistake. It's better if we organise the categories well than redirecting from each and every page. On a side note, in your article Kelb Tal-Fenek Tal- should be written as tal-, that is not with a capital letter. Capitalise only the most important letters in the sentence. Keep that in mind for future articles. --Roderick Mallia 15:41, 16 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Roderick this is almost sounding like a policy thing. can we put something under Wikipedia:Ismijet ta' l-artikli jew xi ħaġa? Michael I am not trying to cut off discussion just looking how to organize things for discussion Srl | lblb 07:36, 17 Apr 2005 (UTC)
You're right Srl. This should be under the policy thing since basically it applies to all the users we plan on contributing. We also need a short list of hints on how to plan out the page and how to avoid certain common grammatical mistakes like when to capitalise letters, when to write in bold and italics, etc. Guess that would make things easier for those users who would like to contribute, especially the newbies who are not yet familiar with the system; you know, they might think it's too complex and might be hesitant to contribute so the policy thing will be basically helping us and them. --Roderick Mallia 08:43, 17 Apr 2005 (UTC)
In think we should put somthing in a page if you dont like redirects for all the articles that have ħġŻ or ċ so they would be easier to be found altough I dont see the problem of having a redirect to the article as many dont have the means to write maltese letters, and when coming to search they have to open the linux spell checker. Everybody can write in Maltese characters by following the appropriate links found in one of the discussions. However, we will try to make it easier for people to input these characters --Roderick Mallia 20:00, 17 Apr 2005 (UTC)
