[càgna] In Fact, a centuries old language!
Sorry but this is, indeed a very old and real language with centuries of long and colorful history. King Carlo III in fact issued an edict requiring that Napulitano be recorded as an official language with its own vocabulary, grammar, and elevated it to a recognized and established status. Today, the language has a rich history of writen works by the likes of Salvatore di Giacomo, dramatic works popularized by Eduardo di Fillipo which are still performed today, and Neopolitan music, which is a story all its own. "Le poesie di Eduardo" published by Giulio Einaudi, editore, will further demonstrate the deep richness of Neopolitan. Furthermore there are countless scholastic volumes like Francesco D'Ascoli's "DIZIONARIO ETIMOLOGICO NAPOLITANO" which is a definitive work on the origins of the colorful permutations combinations and inventions which evolved with this ancient language. There are countless NAPOLITANO-ITALIANO / ITALIANO-NAPOLITANO dictionaries. You will enjoy Francesco Oliva's "Grammatica Della Lingua Napolitano" by Enrico Malato which has a very complete history of this language. Finally, Fierro's "Grammatica Della Lingua Napolitano" will give you a look at the long and intricate grammar of this language. Brooklynese is a recent bastardization of English. Neopolitan is centuries old, and is a melange of words, pronunciations, and colorful double entendre' acquired, melded and incorporated under domination by the likes of Saracins, French, Spanish etc. Hope this helps you see beyond your present misunderstanding of this rich and wonderful language.--65.5.167.141 16:25, 23 Dic 2005 (UTC)[Larry M.
